                 Drum Tips!

1.   For improved double stroked speed accent the second stroke on each hand. - 

2.   "Practice makes perfect" is all well and good but the real key to perfection is to ensure that you are practicing correctly. Bad habits are incredibly hard to sort out so start off slow and get the technique right!

3.   Take a paper towel and fold it / tape it down on each of your drums. Make sure it's really on there good. That helps muffle the drum and you get a better sound.

4.   Have a strap on the heel of your HH stand. This can be attached to the foot of your drum throne and prevents the HH from walking.

5.   Practice on your double kick for at least 30 minutes a day and you will see the speed and control difference in about 2 months

6.   Practice rolls and rudiments daily!

7.   Be open to learning from other people. This means be humble. Play for the band and not just yourself.

8.   Try to think in shapes and colours when writing drum parts.

9.   If you can sing it you can play it.

10. Stay away from drugs and stay focused on the music.

11.  When playing your super soft pressed roll close to the rim, you will find that you can make it even softer by slowing your hands down. IE the speed of the downstroke for each buzz -

12. Have you have played for your first time in front of people thinking you can't do it and get really nervous and at the end you're all shaky? Just realize you did, and you can do it again! -
